About Discover Summer

The Discover summer program is an innovative, intensive, activity-based program for students who have completed/appeared in the final examinations of Classes V-VIII. The duration of the program is for 12 days / 2 weeks. Sessions will be held 3 hours every day.

Discover Summer is an activity-based experiential learning program that enables the students to understand the fundamental concepts of science and mathematics through doing activities and experiments in the sessions. It is designed to give students fun away from school and utilise the summer days effectively by enjoying the core subjects of science and mathematics.

Some of the features of the Discover summer program are:

It is designed to instil life skills, creative competencies       and hands-on experiential learning in children.

It aims at enjoyment through participation for each       student in well-defined activities that will enable their       behavioural learning in the formative stages.

Application of theories and concepts by making simple       scientific models.

It challenges students to analyse and understand       science and mathematics at the next higher level.

Who can enrol?

The Program is meant for students who have completed/ appeared in the final examinations of classes 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th. Students of Classes 5 and 6 will be combined to form the 'Juniors' group and students of Classes 7 and 8 will be combined to form the 'Seniors' group.

Course Content

The summer program will contain activities selected from the following key-areas of learning:

Schedule of Batches

Classes will be held Monday to Saturday every week for 2 weeks (12 days) between 9 AM and 12 Noon in the centres.

Batch 1: 9th April - 21st April
Batch 2: 25th April - 8th May

The timings can be modified by the individual centres, depending upon such factors like availability of classrooms etc.

Batch Strength

30 students maximum (30 students in a Junior Batch and 30 student in a Senior Batch). There must be a minimum enrolment of 15 students in the Junior and Senior batches individually, below which the program will not be conducted. This is essential to ensure the effectiveness of the scheduled activities and enjoyment of the students.

Basavanagudi (Venue – Mahila Seva Samaja, next to       Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre),

Rajajinagar (Venue – BASE centre),

Malleswaram (Venue - BASE centre),

Indiranagar (Venue – BASE centre),

Koramangala (Venue – BASE centre at PNS School),

J P Nagar (Venue - VET College, J P Nagar 2nd Phase),

Yelahanka (Venue – MEC School).

The Summer Program in these centres will be conducted subject to the enrolment of minimum 15 students as stated above in Clause 5.

Fees

The fee per student for the Discover Summer program (Junior and Senior groups) is Rupees 4400.00

Please Note: The schedule for N Skill Summer, Discover Summer and Outbound Camp has been framed in such a way that a student can opt for either any one, or any two or all three programs.
